Is FlightPal available for other handheld computers, e.g. Handspring Visor, Sony Clie, iPAQ, Jornada, ...?

FlightPal needs Palm OS as operating system with Version 3.1 or higher. It runs on most Palm-III computers, the newer models (V,Vx,105,...), and e.g. on IBM Workpads, Handspring Visors and Sony clies. If you are not sure whether it runs on your system, just install it! In case your Palm-OS version is not sufficient, you will receive an error massage from FlightPal. If you do not get an error message, FlightPal will run on your system and we would be happy if you register the software.

Palm OS is much different from the OS of other handheld computers. Therefore, a migration to other platforms is not planned.

On which Palm handhelds runs FlightPal?

This depends only on the version of the Palm-OS, not on the device type. The Version must be 3.1 or higher. It runs on most Palm-III computers, and the newer models (V,Vx,105,...), on IBM Workpads and on other Palm-OS systems. If you are not sure whether it runs on your system, just install it! In case your Palm-OS version is not sufficient, you will receive an error massage from FlightPal.

Are there any plans for a FlightPal version for other operating systems (e.g. WinCE)?

No, we have not planned to rewrite FlightPal for other OSs than PalmOS.

How much memory do I need on my Palm to install FlightPal?

You need approx. 300kB free memory plus room for the databases. This means, that FlightPal runs even on the smallest systems, if you have not installed too many programs,.

I have moved FlightPal and its databases to my memory card, but it's not running from there. What am I doing wrong?

FlightPal needs its databases in the main memory. The program file may be moved to a memory card, because PalmOS automatically copies it to the main memory during the program launch. To achieve this, please follow these instructions:

1. Install FlightPal without any databases
2. Copy FlightPal to the storage card
3. Delete FlightPal from the main memory
4. Install needed databases
5. Run FlightPal and enter your RegCode

Which GPS receivers are supported by FlightPal?

All GPS receivers, which transmit the received data in a NMEA compatible form to the serial port of your PDA or via Bluetooth with a serial profile are usable. The Garmin Ique is also supported.

Flightpal does not recognize my NavMan GPS, what can I do?

NavMan uses a very high baud rate. When the baud rate in the preferences menu is adjusted to 57600, it should work.

I have adjusted the baud rate correctly, but FlightPal complains with a 'no NMEA' message in the HSI.

With some extremly 'narrative' receivers it may be helpful to adjust the baud rate up to 2% higher than normal (e.g. 4900 instead of 4800).
